Beverley and Andrew’s wedding
wristbands, wellies & wedding vows
We love festival season – the fancy outfits, memorable moments and of course the opportunity to dance like nobody’s watching …and so does the rest of the UK. It’s no wonder that since 2012, UK festival attendance figures have almost doubled, reaching a record 5.2 million in 2019. So when we were asked by Beverley and Andrew to create a ‘mini festival’ for their festival themed wedding vow renewal, we just couldn’t resist.
Festivals and outdoor events have a truly unique feel to them and aside from the live music it’s actually the “non-musical experiences” which contribute to most of the fun, festival atmosphere. This includes everything from the food and drink stalls, the lighting and of course the walkabout entertainment.
Stage One: The Brief
Beverley and Andrew’s festival themed wedding brief included creating a ‘mini festival’, as they are huge fans of Glastonbury and outdoor festivals in general. They wanted the day to be very informal, relaxed and and as far away from a “classic” wedding renewal as possible.
Whether it’s with ambient bubble entertainment, an Ice cream truck giving out free ice creams or a live stunt plane air show, every festival has to have something a little different to make it unique – so why not go for all three!
We drew on our own personal experience providing entertainment for Glastonbury Festival, Twinwood Festival and Download Festival and incorporated immersive bubble entertainment.
Stage Two: Immersive Entertainment
Our Bubbleologist provided stunning ambient entertainment throughout the event creating large bubbles, small bubbles, and every other type of bubble imagination. These were a huge hit with grown ups and kids alike and really created a summery feel to the event.
With the event being held outdoors, sticking with the festival themed wedding concept, it was the perfect opportunity to create large bubbles (and lots of them!), the aim was to let the wind carry the huge bubbles across the entire field.
Stage Three: The Decor
The goal was to transform the (mostly) empty field into a fully functioning festival themed wedding without disturbing the free range chickens or vegetable patch. To achieve this the field was decorated with tents, marquees, flags and bunting to give a classic ‘festival feel’. Food and drink options also gave a festival atmosphere with beer on tap and a hog roast. Even though the weather blessed us with sun shine, wellies were plentiful and so were the ice creams.
The bouncy castles, bouncy slides and ball pits were a definite favourite with the kids providing endless fun and entertainment but the icing on the cake was quite literally the icing on the cake- a festival-in-a-field theme with a marzipan tent, vegetables and the family chickens along with Beverley and Andrew relaxing with a bottle of beer on the top tier.
Stage four: Aerial Entertainment
With so much open space Beverley wanted to feature a live stunt plane air show during the day and an explosive fireworks display at dusk.
Luckily one of Andrew’s close friends works as a TUI commercial pilot and professional stunt flyer who was more than happy to take on the challenge. He put together a heart stopping aerial show filled intense in-air aerobatics complete with with loops, barrel rolls and J-turns which left eyes fixated on the skies and jaws firmly on the floor.
Stage FIVE: Bring in the Guests!
As the sun set across the festival field the wedding guests partied well into the night they were treated to a spectacular fireworks display as well as live music and freshly made pizzas into the early hours.
Overall the “mini festival” vibe was successfully achieved and created the spectacular and unique wedding vow renewal Beverley and Andrew desired.
“Thank you so very much to you and your team. There were so many brilliant comments on your performances. The clients were really happy, they thought you were amazing.”
