Mardi Gras Theme
With its iconic green, purple and gold colour scheme and flamboyant styling Mardi Gras is an internationally renowned celebration which takes place annually in Louisiana, USA.
Each year the population of New Orleans doubles as the streets are lined with festival goers eager to join in the energetic street festival. This enormous event is a traditional festival to mark the beginning of lent in the western christian religion. Mardi Gras literally translates to ‘Fat Tuesday’ -implying it is the last day to celebrate with food before the fasting begins on ash Wednesday. The communities of New Orleans celebrate Mardi Gras over a number of weeks with parades, masquerade balls and street parties.
