Ellie's Moulin Rouge themed 21st
WHO's BIRTHDAY WAS IT?
A 21st birthday is often one of the most meaningful milestones of a young person’s life. At this age we are old enough to know better, but still young enough to get away with it!
Our client, Ellie, wanted to have a 21st birthday party to end all birthday parties – so what better theme to incorporate than the excess and extravagance of the Moulin Rouge.
Stage One: The Brief
Ellie’s vision was clear from the beginning – she wanted to encapsulate everything that the Moulin Rouge stood for. A nightclub, a dance hall and a bordello, a kingdom of nighttime pleasures.
The excessive fun, the debauch entertainment and taking inspiration from the Blockbuster movie of the same name, the blend of traditional and modern. We achieved this a number of ways, such as including our traditional Can-Can Dancers and Feathered Showgirls as well as including one of our our ultra modern LED Stilt Walking Globots.
Stage Two: The Decor
Ellie’s venue was ‘The Amazing Place’ – A chic hotel in a 15th-century monastery with gardens and a lake. And it certainly stood up it it’s name.
The venue was decorated by a third party who kitted it out with a wide selection of stylish balloon towers in black, red and gold as well as a shimmering gold photo-wall and neon “Let’s Party!” Signs. This was all housed in an extra large marquee draped in white fabric swags and twinkling fairy lights.
Photos of the event were captured by the very talented Lainey Lovell of Lainey Lovell Photography. Lainey is an Essex based photographer and self proclaimed “lover of all things visual”. With her bold, rich and timeless style Elli’s event was in safe hands.
Stage Three: Can-Can Dancers
As the house lights dimmed and our Can-Can dancers took to the dance floor they transported Ellie’s guests back in time to the bohemian cabaret.
With their dazzling costumes and risqué dance routines, they let their hair down and delivered the infamous Can-Can dance made famous by the Moulin Rouge which brought the wild and wickedness to the event.
Stage Four: Musicians
Sticking with the theme of blending traditional with modern, Ellie booked a musical duo to also attend her event. Their use of traditional vocals with the accompany of a free styling saxophonist got the party started and helped everyone throw caution to the wind and create that party atmosphere. This duo worked perfectly alongside our performers to keep guests engaged and delighted – not knowing what was next to come.
Stage Five: Globot & DJ
As the evening entertainment drew to a close and the musical duo finished up their last number the DJ took to their decks to help guests party well into the early hours.
He was accompanied by our LED Stilt Walking Globot who was a nice touch to the Moulin Rouge theme – as many history buffs know the Moulin Rouge was the first electric building in Paris, and because of this they took full advantage of coloured and flashing lights.
Our Globot got everyone up dancing, strutting their stuff in the neon dream.
Moulin Rouge is a fantastic theme for events, however we have a whole range of event themes which can be found on our Themed Packages page. Alternatively if you have your own ideas in mind and would like to discuss a custom package created specifically for you – please use our Contact page.
